Board of directors

Katherine Clemente

Founder

I am a high school sophomore in Los Angeles, California. In the future I hope to major in business and later attend law school. I want to become an international corporate lawyer because I would love to work with multinational corporations and international businesses. I love to travel and in the future, I aspire to live in many countries so I can explore all of the unique languages and cultures first hand. I founded Borders of Hope because of my desire to advocate on behalf of underrepresented communities that are in need of assistance and support.

I am a sophomore in high school in Los Angeles California. I am interested in languages and economics and hope to major in international business. As I grow older, I hope to travel the world and learn more about different cultures and customs. I have always been volunteering with different organizations, so when this opportunity came to me it just felt natural to join and become a part of. I became the CFO because of my interest in business and I hope this experience can help me grow my understanding of economics. I love helping my community and those around me because I know that if I were in their position I would want someone in my corner to help me.

I am currently a sophomore in high school in Inglewood, California. Some of my passions include cooking, baking, and music. I am also very interested in traveling. In the future, I hope to major in business administration and then later get a masters in hospital management. Borders of Hope means so much to me because I myself have family members in these communities, and know the struggles of people that live there. I know what others have to deal with in their daily lives, and want to be part of something that can help make other's daily experience a little better.

Emily Diaz

Director of ASSISTANCE

I am a sophomore in High School and I’m interested in biomedical science. I would like to work in the medical field in the future and I also love to cook for fun. At the age of 10, I’ve been doing community service hours at my elementary school. My passion for volunteering had started at an early age in my life. I chose to become a part of Borders of hope because at a very young age I would travel back and forth from Los Angeles to Tijuana to visit my dad for about a couple years. I noticed that many people lived in poverty, and around my age had to stop going to school to help provide income for their family.

Director of Education

I am a sophomore in high school in Los Angeles, CA. I am interested in social justice and environmental justice and hope to attend medical school. When I am older I hope to visit different countries and be exposed to different communities. I have been volunteering around my community since I was 10 years old. I love helping people, so when I was told about this non-profit I knew that I had to be a part of it in some way. When visiting Mexico I would see struggling communities and I knew I wanted to help in any way I could.

selena mateo

Director of Equity

I am currently a sophomore in high school in Los Angeles, California. I am very interested in business and travel. In the future, I hope to major in business and later on become a flight attendant. As I become older I want to be able to experience the different types of economies in different areas of the world and the way they function. I became a part of Borders of Hope because it felt extremely important to be able to provide necessities to communities that are struggling.
